Cave-skiing

Hey all,

If you're still hanging for some pre-season stoke, then have a little look at this little video I made this summer of an underground ski descent...

:

Pointless? probably...  hard work?  definitely...  awesome day out?  without a doubt!!

A few more vids at http://www.vimeo.com/channels/offpisteskiing if you have time to kill...

OK. That is pretty cool.

Those turns seemed a bit skidded, maybe a bit more angulation....  Just kidding....  Loved the video.  Really cool and I wish I was there with you.  I don't think that even Bob Peters has resorted to skiing underground to get summer turns.

There is skiing on the road to Hell anyway, so there is hope.

good stuff, and enjoyed your other videos too.

Looks like alot of hard work but...any day skiing is better than a day at work!  Awesome!

I am SO frickin' impressed.

That was very cool.  Thanks for sharing.

Both thumbs up.

WOW!!  That was really cool!!

That pretty much redefines hardcore.

Nice.

I trust it was someone else's rope that you learned the days lesson "don't use a T Bloc". They are great lightweight devices in an emergency - but for EMERGENCY use only wink.gif

And the pants you wear too slow your speed in a cave would then be "ski-lag-tights?

And the proper tool for illumination would be "ski-mag-lights"

And the...

I've got to wonder... Where did the snow fall from with no sky above?

Well Duh.....it's White Bat Guano, not snow. The French use it on pastries and with escargot.

(Cool mission and video. )

HI OPS:

You certainly don't beat about the bush when you say "Off the beaten track".

Think Bat Guano,

probably the most creative summer skiing I have ever seen.

really impressed hope to see more from you guys. smile.gif

I caught that video over on TGR. Solid effort and then some!

Definitely made me a bit more humble about the 20 odd days of patch skiing I did in the Sierras this summer, since we didn't find any underground patches (found a couple of hidden glaciers, though...)

I've put your cave on my "To Do" list...although I might have to learn some basic mountaineering/climbing/rope skills first, eh?

You can ski a "lava tube cave" off the backside of Mammoth Mountain!  No climbing equipment needed and no need to ascend back out of the cave, just ski on over to the road and drive back to the lifts!
