..in a nutshell: for me (age 48) to become a solid intermediate that can handle well a variety of terrain (except mogus = no real interest, but who knows what will happen if my skill level and confidence increases...).
I'd also like to ski at least 40+ times this year (was out 30+ times last year (started later than I will this year, too) , .mostly at my local resort cypress here in vancouver bc... and about a dozen or more times at whistler)...would like to become a very decent intermediate.....by season's end I was comfortable on most blues and even some blacks (groomed runs) ...i also took plenty of instruction and a number of instructors thought I could progress into blue/black courses next year...but it's the fresh dumps with uneven mounds I want to conquer this year.
...on that note it was big dumps & mounds that tossed me my ass in a hat, LOL.
After an almost 20 yr hiatus I got back into skiing and well let's just say that I paid for it (on my stiff '08 head monster m77...am now changing up skis for this season)...I paid for it too: skiing a stiff ski mid waisted head monster im77 in big 35 cm dumps during ski espirt at whistler: fractured my right rib early in the season , and then upon trying a new ski on the very last day of skiing at whistler I had another (even worse) fall but this time actually broke my left rib right below my chestplace (ouch).
but it's all about getting back on the horse, but wiser, right.....when this season starts, I'll be in MUCH better shape both physically (have lost 20 lb, 20 more to go) and mentally....plus due to all the helpful feedback I've gotten here, I'll be technically in better spot with more appropriate equipment.
last yr visited (among the smaller local hills) Big White in kelowna bc (loved it) and penticton's Apex resort (small resort but challenging hils)...this year hope to perhaps visit Mt Revelstoke, Fernie (hear it's quite something for steep and powder) and would LOVE to visit Lake Louise and Sunshine near Banff (even revisit Jasper and check out Marmot).
any other resort suggestions for an aspiring itermediate?
as per courses I might check out the dave miller (?) ski series....
