Jay Peak conditions in mid-December - worth the gamble?

I'm considering a trip to Jay Peak (it would be my first time there) for mid-December.  My only reluctance is due to my perception of unreliable snow conditions so early in the season.  I'd be traveling from pretty far away, and would be targeting primarily Jay Peak's fabled glade/tree runs and expert terrain, so I want to make sure that it's worth an attempt to go that time of the year.

I was wondering if the veterans of Jay Peak could speak to the probability of having at least "good" snow conditions on Jay Peak's best for mid-December?  Is it a sure thing?  Long shot?  50/50?  Just looking for some kind of educated % chance.

I wouldn't book anything in advance. Pull the trigger last minute if it looks good.
