Blizzard Firebird XO4 vs. Atomic Izor 9.7

So I am selling one of my pairs of skis but I cant decide which should go. I have a 4 years used (avg 6 times a season) pair of Blizzard Firebird XO 4s with Solomon c610 bindings. I also have a pair of Atomic Izor 9.7s w/neox bindings that I got from a friend fresh/still in the plastic, just one season ago.....Last season sucked. I only got to the slopes 3 times and while I got to really like the Izors the couple of times I went out I never got around to conducting a thorough comparison.

I would consider myself in the advanced but not really expert category of skier...(ie I ski vt and pa  primarily and I haven't seen much that I cant handle in the past 5 years... though I don't really like skiing moguls). Ive read lots of good things about wood core. The blizzards are wood core with "thermo gel"  I cant tell if the IZOR is foam/ composite/ or wood it says nano frame on the top???

Keeping in mind the skill level, and location (I live in PA. but hit VT and NH when I can.) And life/use of each... which one should I Keep????

The Atomics are a bit newer and probably a bit better. The question here is not the skis..but the boots. Get yourself to a fitter with your boots, if you let us know where you are, we could direct you to someone. I would bet anything you are in a boot too big. Depending on where you are in PA, there are swaps coming up, you can bring the Blizzards and get some $$ to put towards boots and at least a superfeet. Getting your boots set up, you will get more out of either ski.

Keep the IZORs and use them for night skiing/hardpack, even light NASTAR.

One advantage Phil didn't mention: the binding will adjust to any new boot you get.

After that, you can worry about getting a tree ski to use at Jay.

Philpug,

Why do you suggest new boots??? Im pretty happy with my boots actually I could probably use some superfeet as you suggested  but the boots have been great. Plus the real problem with your swap scenario is I'm only selling my skis because I bought a  Gary Fisher X-caliber 29 mountain bike...that was a little out of my price range...even with an employee discount. Anyway enough about my consumer indiscretion...I'm still curious why you suggested that my boots be be too large?

Thanks!

... you do realize that there are only two possibilities here:

a) They almost _always_ are too large

b) The difference between the X04 w. S610s and the IZORs is so huge that the only way someone  wouldn't notice is if the boots were too big

Fair enough Phil. Now For the second question. How much should I sell my blizzards for? Ive probably only skied them like 25 times there is one good gouge about 2 inches long and about .25mm deep near the front inside edge that's the only major issue. Plus a couple of surface scratches on the top side. bindings are in good shape. What could I sell them for? I had them on craigslist for 200 but I think I might be low balling it..

Thanks

low balling them? I think they might be on the high side.

good luck

I sold a pair of 2006 atomic sl11 race shape, tuned without bindings for $140.. Bought race skis for under $200 with bindings used. it all depends on the market htough
