*** I've been trying to apply to be a NSP Alpine partoller, but NO ONE calls me back! ***

I'm a 29 year old, strong as an ox, advanced/expert skier, that loves to be on snow (frankley, who doesn't?).  I've been trying to get in touch with the NSP rep at my home mountain, and have had no luck last year, or this year.   I'm trying to find out more information on the duties, schooling/qualifications, mandatory days on snow and the like, but have had ZERO luck thus far.

Can someone out there point me in the right direction, or give me an idea of the initial involvement...  I keep hearing that the NSP patrollers are aging, and the next generation is thinning.   I'm trying to help and do my part, but......

Thanks

Nick

Nick, sounds like you got the skiing down.  The hard part is getting the medical training. Either NY State EMT-B or National Ski Patrol OEC is required to be a ski patroller.

OEC class starts Oct 1 in Southinton, CT skipmudge@aol.com

Send me a personal message. I will help you find something.

You need to figure out what mountain is a good match for you and then contact the Patrol Director.

Here are a few links that will help.

Since your home mountain is Belleayre.  Leave a message on the answering machine.

Belleayre Ski Patrol refreshers are Oct 23 and 24.  Come on up to Belleayre at 8:30am and introduce yourself to Patrol Director Joseph Strauss and/or Robert Zimmerman (zMan).

WOW, awesome info.  I actually left a message on the answering machine for Joe earlier tonight..   I'll also PM you in a moment.

Another cool thing, is the EMT-B class at either of the two listed are within literally 1 mi of my house.   Bard is a mile north, and NDP is 1/2mi south.  Funny enough, my wife and I might be purchasing some property to build on about 400 feet down the road from their HQ.   -   WEIRD.

The OEC class is a good 1.5 hours from me.  If it meets often, it may be a stretch to make it out there all the time, unless it would be a complete course in a condensed time, then it could be feasible.

Thanks for the heads up!!!!

Nick
