First snow of season here!!!

Ok, it's just a dusting up high on the peaks around 3000meters, but it gets you excited. Is anybody else as desperate as me to ski. The local glacier, Diableret (glacier3000) will open on November 1st. I have to admit the glacier is flat and a bit boring, but it's just so great to get up there and be a part of the first day of the season.

YOU BETTER BELIEVE I AM AS EXCITED AS YOU ARE !

some places in salt lake and somwehere in canada already got a dusting too and loveland starts up the snow guns on SUNDAY !

goodbye flip flops, cut offs and (w/ apologies to the ladies)ball sweat !

hello snow, frozen lakes, neon ski gear, roaring fires and eskimo kisses !

oh and believe me too!! I just can't wait... we also got snow down at 1600m 2 weeks ago! But it melted in just one day:(

I will probably do season opening in Diableret as well. My new boots and skis just arrived and I'm so excited.. can't wait.

Looking real snowy this morning up in Banff: http://skibanff.com/conditions/webcams.php

Village is right at 1600m +/- I think I was there for the last recorded snowfall in the village, back in May.

Only about 50 days to go?

It snowed in Great Falls, MT this AM, and that is down low.

Listen, is that the sound of winter waking up?

I don't get too worked up about early-season skiing. When it comes, it comes. Now late season...

It's not about skiing in October... It's about huge traffic jams, enormous lines to change tires, 500% more car crashes than average, ski hills test their guns, skis and snowboards take their place in  sports stores...

Its just pre-winter rush... Like decorating a Christmas tree... Not yet Christmas, but still a celebration

Well put.

My windows and the webcams at A-Basin http://www.arapahoebasin.com/ABasin/snow-conditions/web-cams.aspx and Loveland http://www.skiloveland.com/themountain/photoslivecams/cams/ridge/ridge2.htm show some white stuff this morning above 10 K.  Tonight should be go for snowmaking.  Much slower start than last year, but November was really dry last year, so hopefully that will be different as well.

Love to hear about the snow buzz.

Looking at everyone's facebooks, blogs, etc. Snow is starting to make it's way down to our beautiful mountains. Keep praying for a huge snow year!
