Well, we faced poor to average conditions for this area for this years EpicSki Gathering. Despite that, there were lots of smiles and laughs and some really good skiing when we weren't surviving the icy stuff. We had just overt 50 Bears and a few guests of Bears that attended the festivities through the week which was capped off by the party at "the beach." Great stuff there and we'll talk a little more about that later.
I usually manage to connect with many of the "locals" here in Summit and Eagle Counties through the season, but there are a few I see only once a year that made it out to the event. Good to see all the familiar faces again.
I met a whole new group of Bears who seemed blown away by what we routinely do here in Summit County. Ski together . Yep, just another day as far as getting together here, but with a few more happy faces. All you new folks, don't be strangers, many are here all the time, and they are just a PM away.
Our worst spring snow (garbage) did arrive a bit ahead of schedule this year making for some pretty rotten conditions on the Vail days. Too bad there, it's a fun mountain to ski. Now it would figure that they got 7" last night and it's still snowing......crap.
For those who's season ended at this years Gathering, I can't think of a better way to end it. Have a great summer.
For those like me that have only a few days left, enjoy the rest of the season on the hill.
For those who can ski well into June in some of the CA. areas, Washington state and A-Basin, try to think of the rest of us poor souls and make a run for us.
