Under 300 for 7 days great deal!! I was calling the resorts to see if they do Comps for visiting instructors (for LS) and this price beats the amount charged to visiting instructors (51-68 depending on the resort)

Has anyone actually successfully used the "last minute travel voucher"?
There seem to be quite a few horror stories about this company, on the web.
Just curious as it sounds like a great deal.
I've lurked here for awhile, and greatly appreciate the information presented here. If I had anything of value to add to a subject, I would, but there is a lot more skiing knowledge here, than I have!
I'll be in Summit county, the week of the fest, but am unsure what dates, we will be skiing, at which resort. There are others traveling with involved. Hopefully, I may be able to put a few faces, with the names here!
Thanks!
Brudog

I Havnt used them befor but did check to see how long in buiness and that sort of thing. before 2006 and the problems they had they seemed to rectify and they are ok with the BBB
Though I'm not attending, I am trying to ski in CO vicariously via this thread. Here's a direct link to the deal:
http://www.lastminutetravel.com/Activities/Vail/The-Colorado-Ticket-1220685-Overview.aspx?s=1
FWIW- I purchased the voucher and called vail resorts who confirmed it's validity. You will receive an e-mail voucher that just needs to be printed out and presented at any window.
FWIW- BBB is in a bit of hot water lately with selling it's ratings.....http://ctwatchdog.com/2010/11/24/la-times-coverage-of-bbb-scandal-in-los-angeles-an-embarassment and there are several more articles about how they work....

I was thinking of doing the same. Good to know.
Sometimes when a deal seems too good to be true, ...
At least you make a lot of noise. And you speak some variant of English, instead of Quebecois. I appreciate that!
Fortunately, there's a bit more elbow room in Vail than at Blue Knob.
Though with a group of ~60 each day, the first run or two (until groups separate) will be interesting. As Uncle Louie has said, "We are our own worst enemy."
Thanks for calling Finn, smart guy
UL has managed many groups (lots in lessons), and I'm certain he'll be doing a verbal split of skiing skills before the first run to avoid any unpleasant experiences for the participants.
It's actually even easier than this the way it is set up this time around. The guide gets to choose where he or her wants to go and takes 8-10 folks and heads out. Since most of the skiers are capable of sking expert runs the split is usually quite close. I have skied with about 1/2 of the people coming to this thing so most of the split is already done, it's just a matter of including the rest.
I do expect a number of Intermediates at this event. We will get them out of the meeting area first.
Now as a bit of advance notice I'm going to be doing tours of the Lake Chutes area at Breck (morning group and afternoon group) weather, snow and ski patrol permitting. This is Breckenridge's steepest terrain in the 53 degree range. There will be a carefull split and warm-up run in Horseshoe Bowl. Anyone who struggles in Horseshoe bowl won't be allowed to continue up to the Lake Chutes. (and......you should be capable of a 10 minute hike in your boots at 13,000')
I don't have anywhere near enough guides for the expected 10-12 groups. Some of the groups will be on their own. I'll let you know this answer shortly.
First, your're telling me they won't wait for me, and then, Second there is not enough guides and Third, we'll probably be on our own anyway. I think I'll stay on Chair 15...it's really close to the bathrooms.
At last season's "impromptu" gathering at Vail we skied with a much larger group than 10 and we managed to hang together very well. I think we could possibly increase the group sizes, but it really depends on how well the skier abilities are grouped.
BTW - Colorado Front Range mountains are predicted to get about 3' of snow from Friday through Monday. Hopefully this trend will continue into the week of the gathering.
Yes...and any non-epic members we can round up while we're there too.

No retro gear in Lake Chutes, is that a rule yet? If not, will it be?
