Ski / Skiing Magazines

Are the 2010-2011 Buyers Guides out yet?  I haven't seen anything lately from either magazine.  I think my subscriptions may have run out.  I renewed Ski but found if difficult to find renewals for Skiing.  Is Skiing still in business?

Powder has a buyers guide out in their latest issue.

Skiing Mag merged into Ski Mag. I think their first issue for the season is October.

I don't see this being a problem.

I think SKIING is on line only now. I haven't received my SKI yet, nor my POWDER. I have, though, received 2 issues of Freekier.

powder was out weeks ago, the online version is really bad, they mixed in skis reviewed but not rated with skis rated.  They just show the reviewer and then you need to drill down ot see thier picks. there's no list of skis you can just go to.  Freeskier is online but I can't really figure out how it works either .... Phil, where's your site???

Ski and Skiing are no longer in print- on a regular basis that is - TWO ISSUES A YEAR? as much as we bashed them, they were a huge part of our ski porn universe. I've hanging around my mailbox and the magazine racks for a month now wondering what was up. Over- Finis.  R.I.P. They're online, which is cheaper for them I suppose... good bye and good luck...

It is a sad day that both are no longer in print.  I hate reading from my laptop in my "office"

SKI Mag is still a fully print magazine. Just shifting the publishing cycle closer to the season. Skiing Mag will put out two print issues for newsstand only. No subscriptions. Skiing Interactive is Skiing Magazine's new digital magazine (not a website or web content) coming out every other week starting October 26. This is the same say the Skiing Mag Gear Guide hits the newsstand and ski shops. Skiing Mag print subscribers are given the option to switch to a SKI subcription or a subscription to Skiing Interactive.

NOOOOOOOO !!!! I just found out today.  Reached in my mailbox and pulled out SKI - Ahhh yes, I thought, I got one of them today.  Then I read the cover over the cover and it says SKIING is done for and that they will extend my SKI subscription in exchange.  And guess what?  THIS SUCKS !!  I got them both every year, but SKIING was clearly the one that didn't bs the reader.  Everything about SKIING was for real skiers while everything about SKI is for vacationers who can hardly ski who just want to know where the best food is so they can pay money to sit instead of ski.  I got both because, well, I love skiing, so two is better than one.  But this is not cool.  Not cool at all.

I will miss dearly the little cardboard mountain guides each month.  Loved those.  Its a sad new era.  No truth now.  With SKIING gone and skitown.com canceling the reviews section- it makes you wonder how the heck you weed out all the untruthfulness to get to the reality.  Luckily epicski is still here.  But I am bummed about losing SKIING.

I am really, really hoping this is just sarcasm... I think you should post this over on TGR, there are some guys really upset over there about the loss of this gem of a magazine....

Shoot Finndog, I am still bumbed that Snow Country isn't around anymore

Got my last SKI magazine yesterday in the mail.  It had the gear guide.

I find it rather cheesy that they announce the demise of the magazine on the wrapper, yet still stuck a SKI magazine subscription card in the interior.

the demise of the magazine

SKI is not in demise...yet.  They just axed the September issue.   SKIING in print did die, and while I do not feel the pain of Michigander, there is no question in my mind (or presumably most here) that Bonnier killed the wrong magazine.

I just got the copy of Ski in the mail. I have to say that it was the worst excuse for a magazine I have seen in a long time. Never mind the fact that there was no order to the entire thing but the fact that Whistler had as large of an advertising piece as the rest of the magazine. What a waste. So glad I get it basically for free because it is not something worth paying for.
