I though someone would appreciate this. As of now, they're saying in the neighborhood of 5 inches. Winter is coming!

I appreciate it. I Know it will all melt off, but still it's a sign.

At this point any water is good. But by about mid october... I hope it warms up and melts or just dumps nonstop.

Everyone tells me that light snowfall and cold weahter in Fall of 2008 and 2009 is what lead to persistent weaknesss in the snow for basicly the 1st half of the winter both years. So I hope it stays warm until it starts dumping in late November.

A thin snowpack and cold temps make for some nasty TG snow.  I always want the early snow to completely melt and start fresh around the first week in November.  Ideally we will get a 60" base very quickly and it will arrive in short waves of about 5-10" each.  This should help a lot with stability.  You can sometimes see exactly where the early snow fell by where the avalanches run later.
