Any advice on 09-10 Powderish type skis

Me:  42 year old male, live in Colorado, Ski about 30-40 days per year.  Been skiing like this since I was 3.  5'8" 210lbs.

 

Mostly skiing Copper Mountain and other mountains in Summit County, CO.

 

Recent Skis:

Nordica B4 178 from a few years ago.    I didn't really like these skis at all.  They seemed too light and flexible for me.  I got rid of them after one season.

Volkl Allstar 178 - I really liked these skis.  Seemed to be great on groomers and fast stuff.

Nordica HotRod Jet Fuel 186 - I got these after some advice on these forums.   I started out using these for days with 4-6" of powder and crud days.    A few times I had them on groomer days though and I actually liked them better then my Volkls.  I used these almost all the time last season.  We didn't have too many huge powder days last season.   I really like these skis more then anything I've tried in a number of years.

 

Anyway.. I'm thinking of ditching my Allstars and just using the Nordica's almost all the time.

 

Now that everyone is talking about Rocker and Camber, I was thinking about trying some powderish type skis again...

 

Any suggestions on a wide skis to go along with my Jet Fuels?  

 

I saw some K2 Obsethed 179 Demos yesterday for $399 with bindings, but I'm thinking if I get skis for powder, I should really be looking at something in the 185+ range.  Any advice on anything to try?   or buy if I see a deal?

You are right, 179 is WAY to short for someone of your size in a rockered ski- or any kind of off piste ski for that matter.  185-195 should be the ticket.  There are a lot of different options out there, but my personal favorite out of those I have tried is the 186 ON3P Billy Goat.

Yeah. I was really looking for a 2010 deal. Not sure if I found any. Maybe I should just wait and demo something later

Boheme? What is up with these skis? Anyone heard of them?

Also, do the bindings really make a difference? The ski shop guys were telling me I really need marker wide toe bindings for more contact area on my toes to work with these wide skis. They were telling me that some of the other bindings with narrower toe pieces but wide brakes won't work as well.

We have NEW Girishes for $349.00 and I can include a killer (applicable wide brake) binding for the previously mentioned $499..shippped.

Phil,

 

I haven't been on here in a while.   I've seen you post stuff about having skis in stock..etc.   Are you talking about you personally, or is there an epic ski store somewhere that I missed?

 

Also..   How do you think the Garish would be for someone like me?
