Advice: K2 sidestash - 174 vs 181. thanks!

Greetings!

This is my first post.... a big thank you in advance as any help here will be greatly appreciated.

I'm very close to buying a pair of 2010 K2 sidestash but have suddenly found myself unsure of whether to go with the 174 and 181. Here are the factors at play.....

I'm currently skiing an old 2005 volkl gotama in a 183 which i loooove, but it's time for something new. Knowing that the gotama skis short, and after being told the sidestash actually skis quite long I was sure I'd go for the 174.  However that does seem a little short (I'm 5'10") and I've since read a thread that suggested going longer on the sidestash because of the rocker which left me confused.   OH DEAR.  Here's my info..

Im a gal, about 5'10", 145 lbs, aggressive, ski in and around Chamonix, France, generally off piste hiking and touring though undecided on whether I'll use this as a touring ski....... hmmm do i need to post any more info?

Thanks a million for any wise words and have a good day

Brooke, what I can tell you is that I own a pair of K2 Hardsides which is in the same K2 family except at 98mm underfoot vs 108mm for the Sidestash. My Hardsides in the 181 length which are 2009-2010 year skis measure 186cm from tip to tail. K2 skis have always been long for their stated size. Someone told me that they had stopped doing this, but for sure that is what my skis measure. I will assume that this means that the Sidestash in the 174 will meausre clsoer to 180cm, and the 181 should be 186 same as the Hardsides. The tip rocker does shorten the ski some. But the Hardsides are reasonably stiff and the tail is a hard tail (which I love) which lengthens the ski a little (vs a rockered tail or a twin tip). IMO they ski their true size which is 186 in the 181. My guess would be that the 174 would be perfect for you.

If this helps I am 6 3" 185 lbs.

ah!  thank you Hedgedskier, that's very helpful!  Sounds as if the 174 will be plenty.

All the best
