Lange race boot question

Hi,

 

I have a 14 year old son (-96)  weighing 130 lbs, almost 170 cm tall. He is a very talented racer and need new Lange boots. Last season he was on World Cup Team 110 and after recommendation from Dynastar/Lange we thought that the new RS 110 SC would be ok but after trying them on they are way too soft (softer than last years and almost feels like a kids boot).

 

Unfortunately they don't get World Cup ZA/ZA to Sweden so the boots we have to choose from (He has a sponsorship with Dynastar/Lange) are:

 

RS 120 SC

RS 130

RS 140

World Cup ZB/ZB

 

I have tried the new Ross boot in ZA/ZA and i think that would be somewhat the right flex. How does RS 130 compare to ZA/ZA and ZB/ZB in the flex? (I know that they are different boots and with different last 92/97 mm)

 

 

Any suggestion?

ZA,ZA is around 100-110 ZB,ZB is 130-140 the new plastics on the lange production modesl the 110, 120, 130 etc that you mention are a bit soft IMO compared to some in the past

 

the boots you mention are 97mm unless they are the wide fit 100mm the 92 is only on the older RL12 last ...avoid this boot, i have yet to find a racer who liked its geometry (sure someoen will dissagree but) most of the skiers i know who had the boot reverted to therir older lange boots .. the last you want for the race boot is the RL2006 which is the proper race boot in 95mm last, that in a ZA,ZA flex should be just fine, if not available it is possible to soften a ZB,ZB to make it work

 

these are diffciult to get hold of, i am currently trying to get hold of some for a GB team member and keep hitting a brick wall

i second colin's response:

 

RL2006 in ZA/ZA is perfect for top level 1996 weighing 130 lbs.

 

second choice a ZB/ZB with the lower v cuts lengthened for softening.

 

we have these boots in stock and can ship to sweden.

According to this: http://www.polpunkty.pl/files/zalaczniki/2010-03-20-oferta-PM/DYNASTAR_progRace05.pdf the WC ZA, ZB, ZC are all 92 mm and the RS 110, RS 120 and RS 130 are all 97 mm. Same for Ross if I look at http://racingusa.rossignol.com/

Do you mean ZA/ZA or ZA/ZA soft? Much difference in flex between them?

 

Can you explain the technical difference between the ZA, ZB and ZC? Is it the thickness of the plastic that differs?

 

Why do you think a softened ZB/ZB is better than RS 130?

well some has screwed up somewhere according to your document the RS140 is also 92mm the catalog i am sitting looking at says 97mm you got to love it when the manufacturers put out duff information to different parts of the world, they can't both be right

 

ZA, ZB.ZC etc are different durometers (hardnesses) of plastic rather than thickness

get the shape right, and make the flex softer as needed...
