Seriously, the college pass is so good of a deal it's not even fair.  biggrin.gif

I got a grainy cell phone pic of corduroy at Magic last night...  They're starting to push it around and things are looking very nice icon14.gif

You guys rock.  I haven't skied Magic since 1989, but have fond memories of the place and am glad to see it's in good hands.  I hope to return someday!

Can't wait to have you back.  We will be starting the year on Showoff.

So what's the prognostication for conditions at opening?  We may be up in the area for a few days between Christmas and New Year's ... wondering where to do a few turns if it works out.

It all depends on the weather in terms of volume of terrain open.  They guys are making snow like madmen right now.  They are aiming to get as much open as possible.

There will not be a massive trail count unless there are a few natural snow events.  What is great about Magic is that you don't need a big trail count to have alot of fun.  What is open will be in very good shape with 2 grooming vehicles this season!

Magic is a great place to escape holiday crowds no matter how much is open, you will have a good time skiing and meet some really great people!

So stoked to get up there this weekend.  Fingers crossed for continuous snowfall from here on out!

Looking forward to seeing you Sat Mr. Jam!  In case you didn't catch it on Facebook things are looking good for this Sat. opening!

Absolutely.  In the bar before the lifts open, or are you guys booting up at your condo?

We'll see you in the lodge but if you want to stop by the condo to prepare let us know.

Saturday opening official!

via FB:

alright everyone, WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT!!! We will open with Upper Carpet, to Trick, To Wand and the Show Off. We will be offering midweek rates. Stay tuned for an Alpine Update and Snow Report tonight. We will open for the weekend and then close Monday through Thursday and reopen again Friday for the Holiday week.

Glad to hear everyone will be there, can't wait to hang with you guys again!  I almost can't believe it's here...  I've been there so much this summer with no skiing it's hard to believe I get to bring my skis again!  LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Magic needs a Lange girl and with your help we might get one.  Svetlana is clearly the best candidate, you may have seen her in Guy Douchette's ski classic Hotpants! II.  Cast your vote, let's have the next Lange Girl save Magic!

No question - Svetlana and she can actually ski.

Svetlana kills it, vote for her please.  It only takes a minute & Magic needs a Lange girl!

Hey everybody, just wanted to check in over here to let you know I had a blast this past weekend at Magic.  I was blown away by the coverage, and the grooming was second to none.  There was one sketchy section on Saturday at the bottom of trick, but I'll tell you what...  After skiing Saturday, the groomer came out and asked us skiers where we thought needed love, so we told him where it had gotten scratchy and the next day- flawless banked corner instead!  Wow, just wow.

Sunday the trail conditions and grooming was better than I've seen so far at Okemo or K.  VERY fast skiing for sure, with nobody on the trail to slow ya down or get in the way, and perfectly edgeable courderoy.  Saw a bunch of old friends and new faces, and everyone I talked to was having a blast and couldn't believe how flat out awesome everything was.  Snowmaking crews are out right now, hammering away and expanding the terrain for this weekend too so look for a couple ways down the mountain.  I can't wait to get back up there, and I hope to see a few epicskiers up there this weekend- one was not enough last weekend, I know you can do better- and where better to hide from the holiday crowds than Magic?  Nowhere!

See yous there!

with the talk of snowpocalypse I may head up this week - probably Tuesday.  They are talking 18-22 around here (Worc county)

Monday I'll probably hit Wachusett because it's close and may need to shovel most of the day ;)

CT55 introduce yourself if you are there Wed, Tuesday Rusty should be there.

How's Magic skiing right now?

Anyone going to be at Magic tomorrow (Friday) and want to show me around?

I'll be in a yellow/orange Arcteryx jacket/grey flylow pants on either LP90s (green) or red 179 Bros (depends on the snow...).

My son and I were there today.  The snow making trails were mostly quite nice.  Trick had a nice mogul line earlier, but it got weird later. I could swear it got scraped so much that a couple of moguls just disappeared, leaving a flat, icy gap.  I expect they will fix it up again, though.  The natural snow trails on the other side were mostly fun, with not too many scattered bare spots.  The one exception was a couple of truly bad (rocky) pitches you had to pick your way through. (The second time through, even though I new it was coming I was unable to avoid hitting rocks several times).

There was never a line.  From noon to 3 pm there were maybe 5 or 6 people in line.  Otherwise we just skied up to the lift.

This was our first time at Magic, and I was favorably impressed.  There are some seriously steep pitches I would love to come back to later in the season when they have snow on them.

(P.S. - I meant to send out a "who will be there" but I didnt get around to it in time to make sense.  Maybe next time.)

sorry guys I will next time.  Kid got sick so I stayed around to help out

MDF, Glad you liked the hill.  Now would be the time to come back! Let us know if you are headed our way.

Can anyone give me any feedback on the It's Magic 1st time skier program?  I've never been to Magic but I've wanted to for forever and my girlfriend is coming up to visit and try skiing next weekend.   Looks like it might be a decent option.

My son went back to college today, and I have a bad cold, so no Magic right now.

How much snow does it take to open the top of Magician?  Looked like it would need lots and lots to cover those steep rocks.

forecast is for more snow this week - crossing fingers it will remain snow.  Last Wednesday went up on a lark and it was good.  But the base on the non-snowmaking trails needs building.

Still great but possibility of two more storms this week could really make it good...

Make it happen & i'll sell you a couple tickets for $40/ea.  I have 11 left that I purchased before the season.  They're set aside for 1st timers.  Sorry I missed you Stymie, haven't been on Epic is a while.  Hopefully you had a good day.

Hell yeah!  Magic got between 7-10" of heavy snow all over the hill and the base they already had as well as a thin layer of ice crust on top- not so good for skiing initially but fantastic for keeping the snow where it is...  In time for what looks like another storm Friday...  Which will hopefully have Magic skiing like the end of february last year.  I know I'll be bustin' out the fatties Friday morning!

See ya'll this weekend, new vid on www.savemagicvermont.com
