My biggest caution: I don't know how on earth they are measuring these things. A 183 barely measures 180. I would have purchased a longer pair online had I known this. But this is the only...

Colorado has two programs, since Vail Resorts left CO Ski Country USA. The CSCUSA pass is free for 5th graders and costs for 6th graders (don't know how much this season), and last year it was open to out of staters. I assume it will be the same for this season. The 5th grade pass was good for 3 days at each area, the 6th grade for 4 days.
Vail's pass ("School of Shred") is free for 5th and 6th graders; I am pretty sure it too is open to out-of-state kids. But I think they have to be there in person to get a photo taken, whereas the CSCUSA pass is an online or mail-in process. Also, Vail's pass gives 4 days at each Vail area.
[Yes, I've been through this process multiple times. My youngest is a 7th grader this year, though.]

They are on sale now at the CSCUSA website. They sell limited quantities. Order online now. New this year - free first-time lesson for 5th graders.

We've done Utah's fifth grade passport three times already and will do it again (last time!) this year. It's available for out of state families. You send a photo of the kid in with your application. You get three days free at each resort and a bunch of coupons of varying utility (or at least that was the deal the previous three times). There is also a 6th grade passport for Utah that offers one free day at each resort. There is a small fee although it's not as small as it was.
