When we planned these early season events, we anticipated good groomed run skiing, perfect for working on fundamental movements and getting the ski legs and mind in gear for the season. That's a great way to start off the winter. But these conditions are an unexpected bonus. This will be great! With three days--one more than in the past--and terrain from groomed to steep off-piste and moguls--and maybe even a big powder dump--we'll put the fundamentals to work. Technique, Tactics, Fun! Power, Purpose, Touch, Will--the four corners of Weems's Diamond--we'll explore them all in spades!

I can't wait. Colorado skiers--there's still room to sign up and join us for this rare early season opportunity. I haven't seen an opening this good since my first season in Colorado, over thirty years ago. That was an Epic snow year, and this one is shaping up to be another. Resolve to make this season the one where you break out of your old habits and reach a new level of performance, control, and fun. Seriously--come on up and jump ahead of the pack!

See you at The Legend!

Best regards,
Bob Barnes

Will you celebrate by skiing on classic skis?

Which pair would you like:

(I'm sure we could arrange a similar loaner from someone in the retro memories thread)

Have fun at the Basin! Isn't there a new lift there?

Boy, do I wish I could be there.  I had planned on it, and even signed up.  But family events intervened, and now I can't come.  I did ski three days over the weekend, and the conditions were incredible.  Who'd believe that you could ski Lulu's at Breck in November?  Or that you'd get knee-deep pow in Spalding at Copper this early?

For those of you on the fence, take the plunge and join Bob, Weems, and Annie at the Basin.  And say hello to my friends Keith, Chris and Tricia whom I'll miss.

Well, my brother and are departing New Orleans in less than 12 hours heading to Arapahoe Basin. We plan to get in a couple of warm up days prior to the Academy. If anyone else is in the Keystone / Arapahoe area and would like to meet up for a bit of skiing, send me a PM.

Otherwise we'll see everyone on the 3rd!

Well my brother Ray and I have been on the slopes at Arapahoe for the last two days warming up for ESA. There are more than enough trails open and the snow coverage is excellent. ESA kicks off in the morning. Can't wait!IMG_1457.JPG

Me too.  A Basin is where I fell in love with skiing - picked up a season pass for $50 at a silent auction one year and never looked back.  I had a pass there for five of the last six years I lived in CO.

Bumming hard, especially reading that low-flying missile Tog is going to be there, too.  Not that I am complaining about the conditions here, mind you...
