Replacement Binding for K2 5COM

After taking a nasty fall at Mt. Snow when I unexpectedly found myself in an unmarked moguls area while torpedoing down the mountain and almost tearing my ACL after the stock Markers 11.0s on my K2 5com’s did not release properly, I am ready to make a replacement.

I am considering Rossi’s FKS140’s, but I am hesitating because I am not sure if they will work well to replace the “integrated” binding system.  Any thoughts or other suggestions are appreciated.  My personal preference would be not to get another set of Markers.

Any system ski would not be possible to replace the binding.  The internal mounting system may prevent a good flat mount on the ski, and generally, there is no reinforcing plate in the binding mount area.

Sell the ski, and check the Gear Swap and Special Deals for EpicSki Members for a good value on an upgrade.   Hope this season goes better.

You are due for a ski as much as you are due for a binding. If you don't have confidence in the binding change.

Unless you can find a used pair of those somewhere to cannibalise for parts (Craisgslist, eBay, .ocal thrift store), you will are probably not likely to be able to repair them.

Welcome to Epic.  There are lots of folks here that can help you find something else.  And we're not all ski dealers.  Most here just like to talk about skiing.  But, the dealers here are also good folks

I don't think they are broken, he just wants to replace them. He doesn't have confidence in them.

Thanks a lot for everyone's help, this is a great site.  Really like the ski, hate the binding.  There were multiple instances when it did not release properly even when I was relatively fast (by intermediate standards) and they did not lease when I wiped out.  they were set on 7.0 DIN and I am 200lbs.  I had a ski shop test the binding and confirm that the DIN setting was as indicated.

Thanks for your post Philpug.  The binding break broke on one of the bindings, which got me thinking whether I want to have it replaced and take my chances with the bindings or upgrade for a new set.  Still seeing pretty good deals online.
