Video TR - How NOT to test a hip replacement

Like Baz says, things are a little slow on the trip report forum, so here's a very short little video.

A group of us were hiking recently in the Wyoming Range to Ramshorn Peak.  On the way up, we passed a fair-sized snowfield that looked ripe for glissading.  On the way down, one of our group (who shall remain unnamed) decided to put on slick rain pants and slide down the snow.

Now, he'd never done any glissading before (butt or feet or otherwise), so I told him he needed to use his hiking pole as a self-arrest tool.  I think he believed that the slope was shallow enough that it didn't matter.

The reason this is pretty funny is that he just had a hip replacement (LEFT hip) last November:

"Glissade" is a word I have removed from my mountaineering lexicon- too many close calls.  Glad you guys had a great time.

I would love to climb the Ramshorn!  Lets see some pics!

Good self arrest "instructional" video.
