Kelly back on the Tourmalet

As part of the 100 year aniversary...

"Kelly, we subsequently discovered, had answered an invitation from an Italian friend to ride the Pyreneean centenary ascent of the Tourmalet on vintage bikes in period costume during the second rest day of the Tour".

"After a quick chat with Kelly, who revealed that the bike he rode up was extremely heavy – the word he actually used was ‘terrible’ – and equipped with just a 40×24 single speed gear """..

So you like Kelly, who was a Classics Specialist but don't like Lance who is a Tour Specialist. You 'suspect' lance of doping but Kelly was caught... twice.

Is it the old bike?

Kelly is simply one of the old school "hard men" in cyclings history. Thought some might enjoy the picture, my mistake......

My "anti-lance" goes way beyond his performance enhancing antics (that is a given)

It's more about who "he" is (or isn't).

Rossi, I have very Irish roots, my mom is from Galway. I'm a big fan of both Kelly* and Roche (and Andy Hampsten, not Irish but bad-ass), I'm just f'ng with you. Great story. We should all back off the 'drug aspect' of cycling, in the last 2 season 98 mLB have been suspended due to failed drug tests and the NFL isn't trying at all. People don't care if the sport is 'merican...

*he did fail two drug tests, though.
