Ski-ra and I wenr on a nice ride yesterday to "break in" my Ibis. Since Ira had just ridden 110 miles the day before, he only wanted to do a "moderate" ride... here's a really good detail of the trail.
we did the Zig-Zag to valley view to Huffmans to the top of Thunderhead (gondi) its about 5.5 miles up with a gain of 2100'. It was an awesome ride although I had to make a few stops along the way to let my lungs try to catch some air. I am convinced that Ira is a government experiment that crossed the genes of a human with a mountain goat, Ira is an excellent rider and incredible climber. I learned a lot from him.
the ride is a mix of fire roads, tight single track with switcbacks and rolling ST through lush Apens. I had a nice header along the way and now have some bruised fingers (never had those before) and some good trail souveniers (trail rash). The bike was incredible, it just sucks up rocks, roots and is very stable in loose skree. The rear just stays stuck to the ground. A great climbing bike and although I have much to learn about descending with speed, its was very stable, By the time we finished the ride, I was much more comfortable and trustin of the bike. It inspires me to ride more.
Here are a couple pics.
