Need help with Bindings (maybe plate?) on VXL

I just picked up a pair of 189cm Stockli VXLs.

Thinking of going with the peak 15 bindings. I used marker jesters on my Stockli schmidts but don't like plastic. I have freeflex on my race skis and love them.

I'm open to suggentions for bindings and also wondering whether or not to put a plate on them.

If I did go with a plate I would use the head 13 slr carve plate.

Thanks in advance!

Just re-read my post. I meant 9mm plate not 13.

Peak 15's are great bindings. They are the best value binding on the market IMO. I got some on tramdock a while back for $99 which is an absolute steal. I prefer FKS, but only marginally. Peaks have way less hassles with brakes and fwd pressure. I think they are a much better binding than the Jester, nice wide din range too, and very durable.

I don't like plates personally, but thats your call.

I say yes on the Peak/Mojo bindings.  I bought my first set of Mojo 15's 4 years ago and love them, and am running a FreeFlex 17 this year.  One thing though, I see the VXL is 88mm underfoot.  I think the minimum brake width on the Head/Tyrolia is 97mm?  Something to consider, it would overhang, but not by much.  You may get a tighter fitting brake with a Salomon or something in the 90mm range.

The VXL's are 89mm waist. A 97mm brake is only 4mm on each side. (.16 inches).

How much tighter can I make it?

Tis a good point. I mean a 90 mm break would be the threshold I guess. The Tyrolia will be fine.

^ If you've got big feet, it's less than 4mm on each side.
