I collect skis - and often step on toes (egos) involuntarily when at yard sales and such. Folks will often have a several year old pair of skis and want far too much money for them. Maybe they want $100-$300 for them, I'll tell them that if they don't sell by the end of the day would they consider less $? (Like $15-$30?). Since most people don't understand how quickly skis depreciate they sometimes find the offer offensive, though I try to explain that I'm just going to put them on a wall -- not ski on them. Usually I can divert them into talking about skiing and not taking my offer personally, but now and then you can't help it!
