What a great way to celebrate the Fourth of July.
Four of us met up at the JH tram dock at 8:45am and caught the first tram of a beautiful morning. A lot of the snow has melted from the last time I skied in the middle of June, so we hiked (rather than skied) out to the Rock Springs saddle, booted a little bit of the way up Cody, and then dropped into the north-facing side of Cardiac Bowl. On south-facing aspects, the snow has transformed somewhat into sun cup mode, but the little chutelet we skied was pretty smooth with just the top couple of inches softened by the sun.
Here's Jack dropping in:
And here's Jumpin' Jack clearing a little rock hole in the crux:
Here's Jim feeling gravity:
And skirting the rocks:
And Pepi out for a little cruise:
On the podium at the bottom. Me on the left (I'm just holding Jack's board for kicks), Jim in the middle, and Pepi:
Another fun summer outing in the mountains.
