Possible to add Skiing to my early October business trip to Holland?

Hi all,

A beginner here looking for some advice. I have a mandatory business conference in Holland from October 1st to October 4th in Holland. The conference dates aren't movable, but I'm thinking about extending the trip using vacation time. Is there any good skiing in Europe at this time? My wife and I were thinking about spending 2-3 days extra looking around Amsterdam and then are open to flying to another European country for a few days. Is it much too early? What do you think?

Sincerely,

Matt

PS -- Our only time skiing was in Breckenridge in March, but we did fairly well after 3 full days of lessons. I'm on blues, she's on greenish-blues.

I would do something other than skiing. Go to Brussels and eat chocolate, or head down south, it will still be very seasonable on the riviera.

I had very good skiing on the glacier above Cervinia one October, but I was a racer looking for training time.  For a fairly new recreational skier you would be better off skiing when more mountain is open.

^^^ I agree, there are just a couple of glacier areas open for skiing, and even that depends on local snow conditions. There is a big indoor ski hall in Holland though, perhaps that would be nice for a day?

You could go to Soelden, Austria.  This is the site of the WC season opener, held at the end of October.  A couple of years ago I spent a few days there.  The skiing was basically excellent spring conditions.  Afternoons were getting slushy, but every morning was miles and miles of groomed and frozen cord, with hardly any people around.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the advice everybody. Incognito, I definitely appreciate the advice about Soelden. I will check it out!

But from the other responses, it looks like I'm going to be far too early for most other places.
