Active vs Passive weith transfer has been discussed here a lot over the years. When using active weight transfer you are shifting weight over to your outside ski at turn initiation. Here is a demo of an adult student that stood on a pair of skis for the first time in her life while taking a one hour private lesson together with her daughter. What makes this approach easy is that the only thing the student needs to consentrate on is weighting the outside ski. She is also told to keep her hands on her upper legs in order to calm her upper body and not to use any upper body rotation to drive the turn. Any comments much appreciated.
