Shredhead, Southwest flies into Albany from Midway Airport. If you book far enough in advance, or if they're running a special, or if you fly at an off-peak time, the prices can be reasonable.
From the Albany airport you should be able to drive to MRG or Sugarbush in 2.75 hrs, 3.5 hours to Stowe, Killington is 2.25 hrs, Whiteface is 2.5 hrs. Closer options (all approx.1.5 hrs from the Albany Airport) include Gore, Stratton and Mt. Snow.
I'd understand if this info wasn't enough to convince you to give up on Colorado and Utah immediately, and start heading East instead.
However, any of the ski areas I've named would give Devil's Head or Chestnut a run for their money. Actually, any one of them would give Devil's Head stacked on top of Chestnut, with Alpine Valley thrown in for good measure, a run for their combined money. Yep, even Stratton. I can say this with some authority, since I can proudly claim to have personally skied Chestnut, Devil's Head (twice) and Alpine Valley (more than twice) in the dark days prior to the advent of the "shaped" ski.
Let me know if I've convinced you to head East. I'd be happy to furnish you with driving directions.
