Thanks for asking, I suspect you're not the only one confused about this. We started the first list with the intent of getting a feel for if people would be interested in doing a camp like this. It was only intended to be an expression of interest, no commitment to attending was involved. We also decided to use that (first) list as an order of seniority, once the actual signup list (current list) was launched, because we knew from the strong show of interest that we were going to have to have a fair way to decide who would get to attend when the number of people who wanted to come exceeded what we could handle with the number of coaches we had.
Yes, there was a moment in which the initial list got messed up. As far as I can tell we eventually got it properly corrected. If anyone finds an error in the order of seniority please let me know. I'm working with the final version of that list we had before we started to new "commitment" list, found in post #161.
Using you as an example, Liquid Feet, here's how it will work. In the first "show of interest" list, you were the 30th person to join the list. If all those first 30 people signed up on the current list you would get bumped, and not be able to attend the camp. Currently, 8 of those people have not signed up, so holding your spot looks pretty good. On October 15th you will know for sure. If you were to get bumped, you will be very high (probably at the top) on the alternates list, to take the spot of drop outs. That all make sense? If not let me know, so I can be sure to clear up all the questions.
EDIT: I really hate having to do this, to draw a line in the sand and not allow people who really want to attend to do so , but it's the only way to ensure the highest quality camp for the people who come.
