Road trip!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBl8Al9W-98

weekends start on friday so on friday we skied in the middle of the day for a couple hour inbounds, in driving snow storm that didnt seem to be doing much for snow accumalation. It was dust on crust but photographed well. well at least if you have Photographer that should be a pro skiing with you.

Me skiing Bear Hill Trees at the bird

On saturday with no set plans I figured the snow that fell on friday would create some good conditions somewhere. that somewhere was not going to be inbounds though. If you want smooth steep snow you quite often have to work for it, and work we did.

day started of skinning up flagstaff

Quickly turned to hiking because with out ski crampon the snow became impossible to skin for everyone on S7 which was 4 out of 6 party.

Amanda provides extra motivation for Erik to go up the hill

funny story about Amanda. I have know her for years from the "internets" and just happen to see her at the trail head. We recognized each other  and ended up hiking up together.

I'm stoked to be up Flagstaff after roughly 2000 vertical feet of hiking

Amanda tops out second

First the views are great bunch of scenic shots

American Fork Twins, Red Baldy and Gad valley of Snowbird

Superior Might be a project tomorrow

albion basin Alta

Collin, P-gulch and gad valley

Oh yeah 2000 vertical feet of soft snow that was inbetween Corn and powder wasnt bad either.

Erik Cruising down Flagstaff

The ever elusive Bushwacker tracks

we smartly aviod the gully to looker right, another party set a wet slide off right down it while we were skiing. I guess that touring in wasangles.

me at the bottom loving the corn snow

Good thing the Altard dont know what they are missing

My face pretty much say how much fun this is

after some lunch at General Gritz I convince Erik we can ski powder somewhere in the canyon. this time we would cheat and use the tram for most of the way up but not all the way. skin deploy!

We then traverse to boundary bowl

Boundary Bowl was an appetizer for Scotty's Bowl

the main course is here on HD video(at 12 second there was a chunk of snow underneath the powder I couldnt see)

erik hiking out of the last BC run of the day Scotty's Bowl

well that was saturday, sunday to come next.....

Kristen gets to drop next...one good turn leads to a....

to a tumble no young women were hurt in the making of this TR

back on her feet kristen shreds the rest of the chute

Nick drops in next and shows that oscar the grouch apparently rips it up ons skis

he gets the money shot

Nice pictures.

There was awesome snow inbounds on Saturday, no hiking required.  Hiking's cool too, but definitely not required for untracked snow saturday.

It was pretty good, but I would rather set my own tracks than skis where every other yahoo is. I skied the resort in the afternoons and it was quite good but not the untracked 6-8 inches we found out of bounds that skied bottomless.

Brookly- some damn fine skiing there!

I have had a lot of issues with posting pictures lately as well.

Spoken like a true BC snob
looks like 2" on the skin track
not so much the s7's as you need to break your own trail in those conditions for effective skinning
Spun a few laps in tlp sun. and emma ridge down for some dirty corn
still got 30 days at the bird may head up tom.
or ski the bcc and totally avoid all the yahoos

What about today?  It has been snowing pretty good at my house the past few hours at 5300', & it is sticking to the grass.  Thinking of heading up the hill for a few skin laps.  What's going on in the Cottonwoods?

I just use the lift to cheat on the up. Yeah the S7 were so overkill and they were suffering. My little 98mm skis trucked up the skin track while they slid out.

Going up this afternoon should be goodish but hopefully better tomorrow.

I am probably heading to Tahoe in the next couple of days.  Should still be some good skiing out there if you are interested.  I am waiting for a fork for the MTB, which should be here tomorrow.  I will let you know if my plans change.

Epic video. Looks like the journey went well.

Planning to be in UT in early December for a mid-week dump. I'll be checkin' in on your vid when I need a stoke. The Bears have really shot yards of video at Snowbird, which makes for a kewl library.

if you have anytime after march 1st to go, Id go back. You have huge chance of getting skunked mid december. March, April and early May are generally the snowiest time of year.

Have fun either way but mid december trips are sketchy to the bird or anywhere else for the matter.
