My current skis are 152cm, 123/78/105, 11.8 turning radius, pretty stiff - the women's equivalent of the Magfire 78 I think. The guy at the demo tent was out of sizes, so stuck me on a 167cm Fischer (don't remember the ski name, but it was a similar all-mountain carver type). I was expecting to have a firesale or two since they're so much longer, but to my surprise I had almost no trouble handling them on-piste and they were super stable. I obviously wouldn't buy carvers that long - I'm sure it'd be a nightmare making tight turns in bumps or trees off-piste - but the amount of length difference has made me wonder whether I've got the wrong length. Unless the Fischers ski short or something? (None of these are twin tips)
I'd say I'm an advanced but not expert skier, can gun it down blacks but moguls may cause problems, and no double blacks yet, at least not at Whistler. 5'4'1/2 (without ski boots on :P) 115 lbs odd.
I tried Elan's ski selector, which spat out the Wave Spice in a 158cm. can't find that on their website, but if it's been renamed the Wave Magic, then that roughly equates to a Magfire 74. From what I know these aren't as stiff as mine... perhaps that's a reason for the longer length rec?
The next size up in my skis would also be 158. I haven't had any stability issues on-piste with my 152s, but wondering if the extra length would be better off-piste/overall, or if it would be too long? As it stands the skis hit somewhere between the bridge and the tip of my nose... close to eye level. It's hard to tell lol.
Any thoughts would be great :) Thanks!
