Little less windy and a bit more sunny today (Wednesday), so extra layers weren't as necessary as Tuesday. There was a light dusting of new plus some wind-blown-in. Only crunchy stuff was early on the lower terrain, which seems to get quite moist every afternoon.
Clouds seemed to be taking over by noon.post #126 of 2555/5/10 at 2:02pm

My Dr. is trying to get my insurance to okay a shot of artificial synovial fluid which may change things for next year. Anyway, I hope to finally meet you, if only at lunch. If its a powder day 8:30 at the base of Exhibition lift. If its a killer powder day, don't expect any one to wait
If its not a powder day 8:30 in the AFrame near the coffee shop
If you miss the first meet up, then we'll see you at the mid mountain lodge for lunch 11:30
Definition of powder day may vary for some of us, but you can use your imagination, eh?
This schedule may change for Sunday depending on Beach Weather and activity.

Lots 'o Bears in attendence. Trek Chick, Don Denver, CGeib, RachelV, Tog, Jill and a bunch of others whose names are eluding me at the moment plus a suprise guest who I'm not going to name in case doing so would be ratting him out . Plus JMD showed up sporting a new hip and a limp-free walk. As we were skiing off to take our first run, I'm sure I heard him muttering something about two-weeks post-op being sufficient recovery time to get back on skis .
Sunny skies, little wind, cold-temps and an inch or so of fresh snow greeted those in attendance this morning.. Did some groomer zoomers to start the day and pick up a few stragglers and then headed off-piste. King Cornice was soft, except where it wasn't, and smooth, except where it wasn't--so we headed over to East Wall for some laps down Land of the Giants. He who shall not be named grabbed a few pics, and fun was had by all with straightlines and small drops available to those who chose to partake. Despite some crunchiness underneath, turns were good enough to warrant another pass down the same run, after which I had to head home to get some work done. A great start to what looks to be a great weekend.
See you all tomorrow !post #144 of 2555/7/10 at 2:17pmpost #145 of 2555/7/10 at 6:55pm
What a day. I showed up late from Denver. I was expecting frozen crud so was in no hurry. . The snow was so much better than I expected that I missed the 11:30 am meeting to keep skiing. Fortunately, just as I was heading in for a break early afternoon Don Denver spotted me (should we just call him D-squared?).
Wow, there was the whole crowd! Tracy, Chris, SEGbrown (Segue?), and others I knew from earlier outings, but best of all I finally got to meet Phil and Trekchick in person. It was so much fun! Sorry I missed saying goodbye when you all headed in. I took one more ride up to get my lunch pack thinking you would all be in the cafeteria when I got down in a few minutes.
So great to meet new Bears and see old ones (aren't we all old)? And thanks to Sue for insisting on doing the East Wall. Those two runs were the best of the day for me. Have a great weekend and hopefully I will see some of you next year.

It was a last minute decision for me to go, like 10:00 on Wednesday night. Killer first day. It was bluebird and in the upper 30's. We had people in and out of the group all day and had about 15-16 at some points.post #147 of 2555/7/10 at 8:51pmThread Starterpost #148 of 2555/7/10 at 10:37pm
I knew you couldn't resist, PhilPug.
Sorry I missed skiing with you all today, but I'll see you up there in the morning. Hope you saved a little snow!

Yesterday was a great day even though I lost you all after two runs :(
I also got up there late thinking it was going to be frozen after a very warm and soft Thursday. But despite the cold temps then sun had softened up the snow nicely. Ran into the group on top of Lenawee to start the day and met up again at lunch. Good to see some old faces (well, not old, but you know) and meet new bears. Very sorry I lost you after Zuma. I thought more bears went up for the second mini hike. They hadn't had Max, Groswold or Durrance open for the last few weeks so I thought I'd get one last run in for the year, even though it was quite soft. Went over to Pali to meet a friend at 2:30 and it hadn't softened up much at all. So back to the Land of the Giants to end the day.
Looks like it should be a nice spring weekend for you all. Once it softens up do some Pali bump runs - springtime skiing at its best imo. try 13 Cornices -- in order to get to it you go from groomer to low-mid pitch crud, to mini bumps and finally to the nice steep narrow run right down the front nose of the mt. Turn left along the catwalk to lower International and back down to Pali lift.
Enjoy!! See you next year. bd
