Aspen April 24-5

Aspen will be closing April 11, then reopenning the next two weekends.  Tixs will be cheap ($19-$39 depending on if you have a Aspen Classic or another CO season pass).

I could be persuaded to go out Friday or come back Monday, but was thinking about driving from Summit Sat 4/24 (lifts open at 10 am) and returning after skiing Sunday.  Anyone interested?

10 at the earliest for me! Don't like that crusty hard crap..

I can just about guarantee first public gondi will be way before 10.  Regular season they almost always open 10-15 minutes early and with posted time of 10, I'm thinking 9:30?  Weather could definitely be a factor though?

Groomers up top will be soft, probably all the way down to Nell's.

Finn- are you going to Aspen after Vail or are you just talking about Vail for your start time...if so, I got a good deal at The Little Nell.

Hope to hook up with you guys Friday at Vail (and possibly Thur, Sat or Sun).

Shredhead- did you make it out this past weekend?  Must have been slushy in the pm...What was the coverage like?

I got a room for Saturday night at The Little Nell and will call you when I hit the Gondi.

No, I was at Alta/Bird last weekend and it was good.  I heard Aspen was good too!
Don't know yet what will be open, it's been really warm?
Nice looking storm coming though, pray for 20"!

Hey trekky!  Ms ragin' and I had a fantastic, glorious spur-of- the moment trip to Aspen last weekend.  The town was empty except for the local crowds, the mountain skied very well for spring like conditions!  First time to ski this late in the season for us, enjoyed it so much we're lookin for maybe one more shot before every place closes.  Highly recommend spring skiing for those who never tried it, dirt cheap prices make it even better!  BTW, bumped into Weems in the coffee shop Sunday, great seeing him!  Sorry, I've been rather lazy lately not posting a trip report.

I think Shredhead is already there, and I am driving in from Summit- took my snow tires off about 10 days ago, but hopefully Vail Pass won't be too bad...Drove to A-Basin this afternoon and roads were wet (no snow/ice) the whole way except going home over the Dam road where there was blow-in.

I'll post some pics later, but it was a great weekend- 18" inches fresh reported up top Sat morning and people shovelling about 8" as I drove into town.  With a mostly blue bird day and 10 am scheduled opening that got delayed 10 minutes because of patrol work, the gondola was a madhouse Saturday morning.

Although Sunday was overcast with a few snow flurries, the snow continued to melt and I noticed a handful of people playing golf on the Aspen course as I left town about 6 pm Sunday.

Many thanks to Shredhead for showing me around and giving me a fast skier to try and chase down!

Thought Sunday would be my last day of, but it was snowing pretty good over Vail Pass on the way home and I have 1 unused Loveland tix!  I'm going to try and hit first chair at 9 am if anyone else wants to play around in 8" fresh (and 26" in 5 days)...
