Just another STUPENDOUS day at Grand Targhee... 4-7-10

What a fantastic day!

A group of us from Jackson drove over the hill early this morning to ski at Grand Targhee.  Targhee has had 63"of snow in the last week and today was some of the best skiing we've had all season.  Sunshine, cold temps, and deep, soft snow.  These April snowstorms are so much fun because just about the time you think the season is done and it's time to start thinking about warm-weather sports, here comes a few feet of powder and a sky so blue it hurts to remind you how much you love skiing.

Here are some photos:

The base area at Grand Targhee:

Just spectacular.

Just so happy to know somebody is skiing somewhere...but alas it aint me...mercury hit 90s here in the East and that pretty much puts the nail in the coffin.  An apt analogy since I am dying to ski again this year.  It sucks when you didn't know it was your last day on the mountain.

Last year I skied well into late April.  Does not look good this year.

Well, enough complaining, I guess I should just suck it up, buy a ticket out West, seeing some good numbers on the snow out there.

Again, just spectacular.

It would seem the sky is a strange bright color where you live.

Nice!

I was on the "old" pair of Mojo 94's. I have a "Ruby Slippers" sticker on them, which is a sticker from a women's shoe shop in Bozeman.  it's interesting how many people on chairlifts ask me who makes Ruby Slipper skis.

I skied Jimis this winter as my "powder" skis, but since we had a poor snow year I probably only skied them about 8-10 days.  They make powder insanely easy.  They weren't mine, though, and I had to give them back to my area rep about three weeks ago.  Boo hoo.

Of our group that day, Peter was on the Jimi's and he loves them:

I think they're great.  They don't have quite the float that wider skis do, but it seems to be plenty for me.

What I like about the Mojo 94 (now John 94) is that it really is a ski that can do everything pretty well.

I've been skiing on the Monster 82's as my everyday ski and like them a lot. I need to get something a bit wider for deeper snow.
