Telluride, Crested Butte & Monarch Snowcat Tours 3/4 to 3/9

We had to really hunt for powder as usual on this trip.  It was mostly warm and weather was fantastic.  Big snow a week earlier and a week later, but we found the goods on day 6 at Monarch with legs of jello.

If you want lots of photos I just posted them  HERE

It was a great trip.  S/w Colorado is such a beautiful place and Monarch Snowcats was epic!!

I was in Telluride just a few weeks ago. visit every year.

I must say they are some of the best Telluride photos I have ever seen posted. You should sent them to the resort you may make some money out of them !

I hope you got the powder that we missed at Telluride.  Looked like they did pretty good right after we left.
I don't know much about selling photos.  I do it just because I enjoy looking back on a great trip, but thanks for the compliment!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed them!  I took all the shots except for the ones featuring my fat mug.

Volks are recommended, but not required.  I used to be a strictly Volkl guy myself, but now seem to have everything but.  Everyone seems to love the Mantras though.  I demoed my friend Steve's for a few runs though and liked them well enough to consider buying a pair myself, but I'll stick with my Magnums for now, as brutal as they are in the bumps.

My new favorites were a pair of K2 Explorers that I demoed one day, but first I have to pick a pair to dump.  Too difficult to decide right now, but I want 'em pretty bad - they're sweet!

 Very nice.
Particularly fond of the shot of 4 buddies in the bar with the red-stained wood wall.

Thanks.  Yeah, I like that one too, so I gave it the uber-special abstract treatment.

The cat skiing at Monarch was fantastic.  Great terrain.  Great snow.  Great guides.  We all had a blast.  I was a bit thrown off with skiing K2 Pontoons for the first time - they were fun, but a bit quirky.  Steep, but very manageable terrain and nothing but untracked all day.  The cat was warm and comfy and we skied till or legs screamed (but we are from Long Island).  One day just went by so fast so next time I'll have to double that at least.  Highly recommended.

Nice!  I'd love to hit Telluride in a big storm some day.  As a matter of fact, I've been dreaming of that ever since my first screening of The Blizzard of Aahhh's.

I,ve been lucky coming from Europe every year ,

I hit the big 53" storm in 1992 , that was the mother of all storms ! Avalanche on Mammoth trail, they didnt even open lift to gone 11:30am !!!
I got a picture of the liftline at Coonskin Lift somewhere , I will have to scan & post it. I think it was the biggest lift line Telluride had ever had !!
