It's, um, snowing in Jackson Hole 3-30-10

Practically everybody is gone for the season, but what a storm we've got going on right now.  5" by six am, 10" by noon, and the main stuff supposedly hasn't started yet.

The skiing was outstanding this morning and should be outrageous by tomorrow.

Here's what Teton Pass looked like a few minutes ago:

I do hope it moves south toward Utah.  It is warm & windy as hell, but no precip yet.  Enjoy the blizzard Bob!

 Drive safely.
Wow, I do miss my JH buddies, and am glad that you're getting some late season fresh.

Maybe see y'all next season.

It's 80 degrees here near Boulder.

I did partake of the freshies this past weekend though. There may have been some racing in there too. It was fun chatting up with Phil Mahre and Doug Lewis.

Move south???  Like most of the other storms this year?  We are due for a decent hit and the Utards can suck it up.  This is an intense storm BTW.  The whole mountain blew down, but the skiing from the Gondi was great right before that shut down too.  It's going to be a big day tomorrow.

It is not over yet, there is more just over the horizon.  Another 4 dayer coming in from the Pacific Friday.  Drying the powder clothes, going to need them again soon.

At Crystal yesterday, about 2' of untacked when they opened the upper mountain.  Eeeeee Hawwww!  It was some of the Cascades' finest? .  The only regret was it happened on a school holiday week and got skied out way too quick, but fun while it lasted.

The snow today was just great. I can't believe it, in the twlight of the season, we get a day lime this!!! Our family did three Ranger Ridges' and the snow was not cream cheesey or layered wind blown, but had a consistent body that brought out the best in everybody. A coworker skied Goal Post by Alta 1 and other big lines were everywhere. Liberty's 100th day was special. After the rest of the gang went home, we skied a tram and had French fires at Casper. Talked with Teton Powder Junkie about summer and the great conditions. The end of the season is upon us.

Bridger has had 16 inches in the last 2 days but the temps are so warm that it turns to mush by noon.

Finally snow is back. 15" in the Bear Rivers in the last 24 hours. Thats more in 1 day than in the last 2 months combined. The ski hill is closed. Now I have to decide... drive to snowbasin or hike it?

I just got a voicemail from my brother and he has been 'stuck' in Driggs and skiing Targee for the past few days. 'Waist deep' was his description. He is on his annual tour of the west; he seems to always be in the right place at the right time. One of these years I'm going to make him take me along with him.

But you know, I skied Breck yesterday and it was just 5" of windblown fresh and I really enjoyed it. So its all good. And I didn't have to deal with the rain my bro did back east this winter.

Ski it while you got it!
