Atomic race stock ski flex marking?

post #1 of 11
Thread Starter

Dear Experts,

I know that Atomic marks tip/tail flex on race skis at the tail of ski. I own GS ones in flex 47/37. Is there any explanation of these numbers? Which range can it be for SL and GS?

post #2 of 11
The higher the number, the softer the flex.

Typical flex ranges are;
GS 48/38 (soft) to 46/36 (firm)
SL 38/28 (soft) to 36/26 (firm)

North American bookings were for Med flex, with some Firmer skis thrown in.

I have seen SL 34/28 ... I am afraid the range is wider ...

Hence why I wrote "Typical". Always exceptions.

Thanks Betaracer, but what is the exact meaning of those numbers?

Hi Betaracer,

OK, do you eventually know the applied load?

I imagine the distance to be in millimeters, correct?

Sorry, I can't reveal that. I have signed a disclosure contract which includes all production, development and testing.

Your answer kind of implies "no" but do you think Atomic will share the answer if asked, or do you know who to contact at Atomic to find out?

Ken
