What are the advantages and disadvantages of race suits in GS and SL?

Thank You

Besides the obvious tight fit for aerodynamics, GS suits typically have paddings (thickness depending on brand) along potentially high impact areas such as arms, legs, back, etc.

personal choice but I always wear one.  The padding on teh suit is to prevent you getting too beat up from gate impact.  the back protector is for fall protection

Pine,

The POC back protectors are "sized" based on their length, and number of panels. I don't think you'll find a racer of ANY size using the L/XL as it's so long. Covers too much of the butt, and runs up the top of the spine, way up the neck. Sure it's protection, but it's overkill. My son's team mate is about 6'0 215, and he wears the medium. My daughter is 5'5" and she wears the size XS/S that I'm trying to sell in the forum. I think the M would be the best fit for your while racing. Just my opinion, but I've had some experience with this. BTW, that's a great deal, and SS always sells top quality race gear.

FYI, you'll spending more than a few $$$ for a POC.

Well, let's just say, $55 with shipping is a very good price for a back protector of any brand.
