"Hot Tub Time Machine"

Have you guys seen the commercials for this movie?  Looks to be set back in the 80's and from the looks of it its at a ski resort with plenty of 80's movie style ski action. AND John Cusack is in it!  "I want my $2"

Haha...it should be fun. They used Fernie as a shooting location.

Apparently, no special effects or wardrobe were required to re-create the 80's in Fernie??!!.......

Looks like a good movie.  I will be interested to see how they show Fernie.  I spent alot of time skiing there in the '80s!

That was the first thing I thought as well.  But my friends who went to a free screening (who went with similarly low expectations) said it was actually amusing and definitely good for a free movie.  Dunno if that implies anything for a paying theatre-goer, though.

I'll save the money and get it on netflix.

It actually looks really funny, and I got my 7$ in hand and ready to pay at the theatre...

What ski resort was "better off dead" filmed at?  What was the run were they had the ski off?

Ok, and what resort was it filmed at?  And I am obviously interested in the name of the run at the resort, not the fictional name IN THE MOVIE.

I live in Fernie right now and I am feeling the stoke for this movie, half the people I know were extras!

Just did an internet search. Dubious source of information states most skiing scenes were shot at Alta. Other scenes shot at Brighton and Snowbird. Alta's parking lot was also a featured location.

hmm, that just looks really bad, but I'll pay my $10.00 to line up and see a really bad movie that might me make me laugh once or twice.

The Trailer

Or the U Tube trailer

I will wait for it to come to Encore (next week LOL).  I'd go to the theater regardless to see it if invited-regardless of how stupid it is.  I like stupid movies from time to time.  Wife isn't a skier or in to "stupid", and there are at least 5 other movies out she would rather see.   So, I doubt I'll be wasting 7 bucks on this.

regardless of where you see it, its a ski related movie and is therefore mandatory viewing..

You are so right......I cant wait.
I am down with you on this one. Ski related, have to see it. Looks lame but funny. Anytime people break out the 80's gaper gear I have to watch. I told my wife 2 years ago that we needed a movie to make fun of the ski movies of the 80's like Hot Dog etc. Although I do love a chick in an all Lycra outfit. Now, who wants to race me in a chinese downhill? Or perhaps a ski ballet contest? Word!

what's not to like!    just have a lot of beverages on hand.

I'm going to wait for it to come out on cable as well. My 80s parka will be rockin' tho next week. Hitting WP, Copper, Steamboat on the Pow Pow platter...
Son wants to take up skiing again to work on the Snow Sports Merit badge for Boy Scouts

OK folks, this thing came and went without a single post on the forum.  Did anybody actually go see it?  If so, it must be terrible or else someone would have recommended it.  It's now on pay per view 99 cents for an all day ticket.  I hesitant to order it, but heck... Could it be worth a buck?  I plan to find out tomorrow and will make a DVD to go on the shelf with the other corny movies that happen to have a ski related setting.

It's worth two dollars. hehe. They actually put that line in the movie.

I liked it.

I think that this movie is best seen inebriated.

I think net-flix sends a dime bag with the movie.....

Do you have to return it with the movie?

If anyone wants another 80's ski movie its hard to beat the tongue in cheek factor of Hot Dog The Movie.  I watched it again the other day; actually impressive skiing on those long skinny things called skis back then.  You can get a new DVD on Amazon for about $6.  It belongs in your ski flick library.
