Is there a cheap ski shop near whistler

Mornin All

I'm in Whistler for the next month and ned to kit the kids out with ski gear.

I want to buy some skis as it seems cheaper than renting them for the month.

The trouble is, I can't find any in Whistler.

Are there any shops within say 50km that sell gear and aren't stupid prices?

Any help greatly appreciated as I need to get them this afternoon.

Cheers

Jack

The best you'll probably do is the Whistler Outlet store in Squamish, or the one in the village

Are you already in Whistler? If not and traveling via Vancouver then you could head to Sports Junkies on Broadway (http://sportsjunkies.com/). They do long term rentals for reasonable rates and have a mix of ex-rental fleet and consignment skis for sale. If in Whistler, then they're usually selling off there rental fleet at this time of year which is probably better value than renting for that period of time.

ps. this weeks looks a good week to be in Whistler! Was up from Vancouver for the weekend, started snowing heavy today and looks like plenty more in the forecast...

LOL, another person with no idea

Re: original question

Check out the Clearance center , owned by Affinity ski rentals

Their website is completely out of date, but the store locations are right. They normally have a selection of cheap gear that is decent, but not great quality.

Why laugh at someone who asks a legitimate question?  He asked because he didn't know.  Neither did I.  The impression of Whistler is that it is extremely expensive.  Once when I was there in April I walked into a shop that had some skis I was interested in.  The guy there tried to sell me his beat up, used demos for $1088.  I went back to Bellingham and bought the same skis, on sale, new, with bindings and tax for $425.  Whistler seemed pretty expensive to me.

Posaune, If you read my post correctly, you will see I am laughing at the person I quoted saying 'is anything cheap in whistler'
I can do this, because I live in Whistler and make a very modest wage. If I can afford to live here year round, then Whistler is not as expensive as some people would like to make you think.

I then refer to the original question with an answer.

Ah.  OK, well it looked like you were calling him clueless when you wrote, "another person with no idea."  I accept that you didn't mean to belittle him.

If I had an idea, I wouldn't need to ask.

Where is the cheapest place to stay?
Where is the cheapest place to eat out?
Where can I get discount lift ticks?

Sleep in your car, eat at Quizno's, earn your turns.

I've got an answer for everything.
