I'm a new skier who really appreciates this site. Being a beginner in Norway definitely has its advantages but has quite a few disadvantages as well. I live on the west coast where there is no tradition for ski instruction. Ski centres assume that everyone has been at it as soon as they could walk. (This is only partly true. Contrary to the myth - not EVERY Norwegian is born with skis on!) If there are any Norwegians here who can advise me on how to find a competent instructor, I'd really appreciate it. So far my experiences are fraught with frustration as I attempt to teach myself or follow my Norwegian friends who are all experts. Theres a limit to how much I can learn from books or videos. So what does one do when one is over thirty and just starting out in a country with beautiful slopes but apparently no teachers?
