Where in the East this Weekend?

Since many north east resorts should have outstanding snow conditions after this weeks storms, I was wondering where everyone was planning on skiing this weekend.  I had planned to head for Vermont, however, the Thurs/Fri storm may  be bad enough that I settle for the Poconos instead.  Anyone else planning a "blizzard" trip?

You wait all season for conditions to set up like this at MAD RIVER.

Places south of killington will see a fair amount of rain today, tonight.

Sugarbush, Saddleback and I heard also Stowe got a lot. I wish I could go. It looks awesome. I asked DH if he wanted to go but he wanted to lay back this weekend. We're heading to Sunday River for 5 days in one week. Have fun!

With 2 feet of new snow and more on the way, I would highly recommend Plattekill ski area.  No crowds and lots of untracked trails the entire weekend.  Its the MRG of the Catskill mountains.    If you want something less rough around the edges give Belleayre Mountain a try.  Belleayre is one of the best kept secrets in the east according to folks I ride up on the lifts from MD, NJ, PA.

Wow Belleayre says they got 60 inches in the last 24 hours and more on the way.

Can anyone comment on Belleayre vs. Plattekill tomorrow? I'm guessing everyone's going to be crazy but would like to try to dodge the crowds as much as possible. I'm guessing most folks in this area will be heading to Hunter?

I usually hit Jiminy so I'm not sure what crowds are like down in the Catskills... but I can't avoid all this snow :)

On Plattekill WEB Site.

UNBELIEVEABLE!!! We're now counting in FEET...4-5 feet of snow in the past few days!

We're still digging out as of 8am Friday morning and plan to open today by 10am! Hope to see you here!

------------
Plattekill never has a crowd and will have lots of untracked snow both Sat and Sun. There is just not enough people on the mountain to track out all the snow.

If you can get there, Plattekill should be very good and quiet.

But given the road condition, that's not a forgone conclusion. A lot of people might be staying home so Bell might be just as quiet and a shorter drive.

Thanks guys, Plattekill was great yesterday. The roads were indeed a mess but my Subaru never fails. Conditions were awesome and the locals were saying how it was "crazy" but I never waited in a line for more than a minute or two.

I heard Belleayre was a madhouse yesterday and that Hunter was closed for at least part of the morning thanks to a power outage. Very glad I went to Belleayre!

Hunter reported 7 feet so Imagine they will draw a lot of the crowd. Plus, they draw a lot anyway.

I'm going tomorrow as soon as the kid gets on the bus.

Thanks for the info guys! I'm heading to Bell (never been) on Wed (day off) and I'm going to try it out. Can't wait! Info says they will get a little more snow on Tues so hopefully, it will set up nicely for me- new boots arrive tomorrow- skiing in fresh stuff on Wed!
Yummy

Since I was driving up Thursday night, I decided to stop at the Poconos rather than risk the roads further north. Also,  the weather forcasters seemed unsure which areas in Vermont and NY were going to get rain/freezing rain.  I skied Fri and Sat at Jack Frost. Yea I know the runs are SHORT-but  on Fri there was 2' of fresh, it snowed most of the day and there were no crowds. Sat was more crowded, but I got to ski with my daughter who goes to college in that area. How were conditions up in VT?
