I'm with you here. Mudfoot, regardless of your "deleted" posts (i woulda loved to read 'em!), your feelings are completely understandable and shared by a lot of us--whether or not you actually say this to the kid (!).
Compared to what I've experienced in European lift lines, the worst ones here are downright civilized! (Mind you, in almost everything else, Europeans have us beat in being civilized, but something happens in ski lift lines there... Like sending your KID up to cut in line and then using him/her as "leverage" to get your own parental a** in the line!) My son, an ALWAYS calm and sweet kid (unlike his mom...), quietly, with no words and no aggressive movements, simply stuck his pole in between the kid's skis...meaning the kid couldn't advance. Worked. Quite well, actually. No fists, no blows...
Later in the day, faced with a similar kinda thing, he just stuck his pole in the release part of the binding and leaned hard (my son was a 6' tall 16 yo at the time). Popped that kid right outa his treads!
Me? I was a proud mom--
