My $12 Ebay Helmet cam

My bro-in-law turned me on to these as he's big into RC helicopters.  You get little "spy cams" on Ebay for about $12 including shipping.  Here's a review of several of them -- chucklohr.com/808/

I took one of these that's shaped pretty much like a USB flash drive (or pack of gum) and hooked it up on my helmet.  I duc-taped it to a little block of foam and then put some sticky velcro on the foam and the other part of the velcro on my helmet.

This is the first day I used the camera so I didn't know how the alignment would be.  I look down more than I thought when I ski so I'm going to alter the foam block so it's pointed up more.


Below are a couple picks of it on my helmet and next to my helmet.  (The extra duc-tape on my helmet is purely optional. I just don't think you're a real skier until you have duc-tape on your gear)

I put it on my helmet as I want to do some stuff taping other skiers and want to point it where I look. 

But at some point, I'd like to play with alternative locations.  Maybe clipped on as waist level or knee level, or maybe even boot-top level would be fun.

This is great. Had no idea these existed (or were so cheap!). Gonna have to try it out for mountain bike season and the next ski trip.

This is the "808 car keys" camera you're talking about?  It doesn't look anything like what you have mounted on your helmet, though - that one looks more like a USB key?

yeah, any chance the OP can fill us in one the model he chose and why? pic quality looks way better than i expected

Further down in the 808 Article they get into the gum pack cams. I guess they're like #3. Which are the sweet ones.
