Otherwise... depends on traffic and visibility, mostly. If you can see the landing area, and there's no chance that someone is going to cut below you (or pop out of the woods, or...), I wouldn't see a problem. But I see a LOT of people (not just at Wachusett) who jump off things where visibility to the landing area is poor/nonexistent.
The problem isn't "jumping" per se. It's putting yourself in a position where you might not be able to avoid a collision. Similar to going really fast around blind corners, through slow skiing areas, or really close to other people. Doing that kind of stuff is taking chances in situations where a bad judgement call could hurt somebody.
