My son & I had a great Utah trip 6-7 years ago (I was an intermediate skier and he has an improving snowboarder). He's 18 now and a good intermediate mountain snowboarder. I have fallen back to a morning "blue groomer" to protect my back. He will be enlisting in the military this Summer, so this might be our last short snow trip for a while. My non-sliding wife will be going as well. We can travel anywhere Alaska/Horizon (or mileage partners) fly, but don't really want to drive all that much. Would prefer lodging near ski slope and some activities/interests for my wife. We have been to Silver Star & Sun Peaks in the past and enjoyed both, but are concerned about snow coverage and weather this year. Son has an interest in Colorado, but I am unfamiliar and have some concerns about the travel to resorts/ski areas and best fit Colorado resort. Tahoe area is of interest, but lodging cost and snow conditions are unknown. Mammoth looks interesting, but cost seems high. Will need a good resort that can get my son in higher end lessons in the afternoon or provide a snowboarding buddy service/bulletin board. Suggestions, recommendations, or comments to address some of my expressed concerns?
