What's pathetic about the way NBC is approaching this is that they have five
channels that are part of their Olympics broadcast, yet only utilize one, maybe two, at a time. It's stupid, as they could use Universal Sports to show the uncut (or minimally cut) daytime events that have, perhaps, less "average American attraction," programming them against the more "pasteurized process" stuff they show on mainline NBC. They could still use CNBC, MSNBC or USA Network to show the hockey games, curling, etc., that takes place during prime time. People would still be watching the Olympics, still be patronizing NBC Universal properties and advertisers - no harm, no foul.
But the network of Jeff Zucker and Dick Ebersol is too dumb to do this. They continue to live in the 20th century, pre-internet. And it's not just their loss, it's the a loss for the American viewing public.
