...shop, over the weekend, to pick up some new long underwear for my upcoming trip to Vail/Beaver Creek and I walk out with a new pair of Volkl Supersport S5 and M11 TPC. How does that happen? I never impulse buy and yet I was sucked in. I suppose the fact that I haven't bought new skis since my Rossi 7XK 15 years ago may have had something to do with it.

I would only see that as a problem if you forgot your underwear  How are our boots holding up?

A good ski if they don't have snow or if you don't like powder. Ideal for the east coast or midwest. Why did you go with such a narrow ski?

Don't go to a car dealer to buy some parts for repair or you may end with a new car. Have fun on your new skis, should be a completely different feeling than the old Rossi 7XK

Yeah but it depends on your personal style of skiing in powder. I imagine if he is someone who hasn't skied on wider shaped skis a lot then he is most likely used to to driving his skis in the powder and leaning back to keep them above the deep stuff.

If you like banking nice big turns in the pow (as well as short turns) and being able to almost effortlessly ski in the pow then wide skis are for you.

If I had forgotten to buy the underwear I would most likely have remembered after getting home

Hell no! I wouldn't have bought them had they been full retail. Especially since I used to work in a ski shop and cringe when I see full retail prices.

Well, I don't really ski a lot of powder even though my latest trips have all been out west, but if I did I would definitely get a wider ski for that. I more or less ski at higher speeds on groomers. I guess I'm also used to a narrow waisted ski. I think the length is going to be something to get used to since the Volkls are 30cm shorter than my 7XKs. But I'm sure I'll be fine.
