Howdy, I just got back from a 3 day trip to Jay & Burke, VT

Jay was characteristically big mountain skiing. The snow was good. There were some bare spots here and there, despite the 2 ft of snow the prev week. The UN trail was hardpack, but the easy stuff off the Jet Chair was groomed & fun. Timbuktu glade was fun as well. The Beaver Pond glade was nice and powdery at the far edge, near Andres Paradise.  They groomed Can AM (expert) and other trails and I did some fast cruising there. The top of the mountain was beautiful, with heavily snow covered trees. My last run at Jay took me down the terrain park and I loved hitting that.I skied Jay 2 days (Weds-Th), and skied Burke on Friday the 13th!

I had not been to Burke in many years. It was like skiing a new hill. The only trail I remembered was Doug's Drop, and that was closed. But, the Dipper trail & Warren's Way were a total blast for some high speed cruising. The Burke Mountain Academy racers were practicing slalom & GS on Warren's Way and were a ton of fun to watch. The grooming was great, and I really enjoyed it there. I skied The Ledges (expert) and that was a fun challenge. Warren's Way has a detachable poma lift and it was like old home week riding that. The poma serves a lot of terrain and is much faster than the Willoughby chair. Burke has 4 lifts, is not a huge area, but is a must-visit in my book. It's a real Vermont ski area, very popular with kids and locals. Check out the pics!

Also I took some nice pics of rural Vermont:

all pics copyright 2010 - let me know if you want to use them in whole or in part. thanks

Nice Pictures. You don't hear too much about Burke Mountain.
I was in that area looking at colleges for my 2 kids last week. It is a very nice area.
One of the schools is very close to Burke.
Thanks for sharing the picture.

What peak is that in the picture "Mountain View" and also "top of tram"? It doesn't look to be part of the resort or lift served, but there are so many nice looking lines along the whole side of the mountain.

There's a bunch labeled "mountain view" but I think the one you're asking about is Big Jay.
