Broke... FREE skis?

So this is the deal, I'm broke and need (okay want...) some free skis.

So if anyone happens to have some 110mm+ underfoot, normal-cambered (tip rocker is okay, tail no), 174cm+ skis laying around and want to donate them to a broke person "in need", let me know what you have.

Now if I'm feeling generous, I may send you money for shipping, but like I said I'm broke, so it has to be worth it.

Major base damage is okay as long as it isn't near the edge.
Let's keep it to only skis from the last, let's say, 6 years?
Un-mounted, mounted, don't really care.

Thanks!

I could use a new car. Must be 4 wheel drive, prefer a wagon (A4/A6, Subie, 325xi, etc) actually a truck is a better option.

How about a Chevy Tahoe or Toyota Tundra/ T100/ Taco ???

Will trade for skis (used).

Hey, I'll trade NEW skis for an A4 or A6 wagon. If it's got less than 30K miles, 2 pair..your choice.

You are all over the board with these vehicles, car, SUV, pick up? Stick or auto? How long have you been driving? Where will you be driving? What kind of conditions? What have you had in a previous vehicle that you have liked and disliked?

Have you seen a good seatfitter to know what would work best for you? As it has been said here countless times..demo, demo, demo.

My job sometimes involves people shipping me feces in a box.  We even get a bit excited about it.

Oh, I could use a '98-'01 Subie Impreza 2.5RS coupe, manual tranny.  I might be able to get you feces in a box for it.

Car.  Stick. Part-time (driver-selected not automaticly enabled) four wheel drive limited slip rear axle, lockable central diff..  Been driving for 40+ years. Driving to ski hills, canoe put-ins at the end of logging roads, off road, and highway. All Conditions.  Liked 4x4 system in big GM pickem-ups, and audis.  Liked ride in old Caprice, didn't like the weak headlights.  Like power feel and sound of modified v8s,  Liked adjustable ground clearance of some old french car.  Like Cruise control and air conditioner.  Like cargo/passenger volume in Caprice wagon.  Like to drive as fast as conditions permit (i.e. not too bumpy or too many speed traps).

PS.  Please throw in advanced radar detector and a few thousand gallons of gas.

BTW to OP.  Check out yardsales, church bizars  e-bay, and Salvation Army.  You can get old skis for next to nothing, and with a little skill development you can ski them.

Well, I want good gas mileage, fun highway performance at high speed but I drive off-road some and I might want to carry plywood someday but I'd like to impress the ladies and my neighbors... but I don't drive all that much and I spend a lot of money on bikes and skis so I really can't afford to pay too much. Maybe a left-over on close-out?

If I demo a car, how much should I expect to pay for the demo car? Like 75% off?? That's reasonable, right?

If you don't drive much, forget about gas milage.  Pay 3% over cost.

So cost would be, what, like $50 ??? I hear dealerships have huge markups. The cars don't really cost all that much for the raw materials.

Are there any small start-up car companies that sell cars super cheap on TGR??? Like a Bro- Brah hook-up thing ??? I'll post trip reports with unintelligible text and pictures of me driving really poorly and everything. I promise.
Small startup companies change all the time.  Used to be VW, but they went upscale.  Subaru stole the plans to the boxer engine and they were it for a few years, then they went upscale.  Japanese were startup for a while, but they went upscale too.  Currently it's Korean, but most of them got bought out by the biggfer fish.  Still the best deal though (Japanese cars made in Korea under GM name plate).

Cost is considerably more than$50. I payed $13,795 (canuck bucks) out the door (taxes freight and license included) for a new Pontiac Wave G3 with cruise and air.
You probably don't want to pay that much; I'll sell you my '92 wagon for $1000 as is.  If you do your own work, you can afford to keep it on the road. If not, forgetaboutit.

 Whiteroom,

Did you try Ebay? be careful of chinese knockoff, I hear there are a lot on Ebay. I do have a friend who knew someone who once rode the lift with the cousin of a guy who buys cars on "closeout" (kinda like a factory blemish), I can see if I can find his name and number.
My brother actually once did buy a car that was on closeout. A fleet of Nissan Altimas was pounded in a freak hailstorm and he picked one up new for something like 6k under invoice. He didn't mind the bumps on the sheet metal.
