Alpine Meadows Weekend Feb 6 & 7th 2010 - POV

I got a helmet cam last week (ContourHD 1080p).      Spent last weekend figuring out the mount and this week figuring out which editing software to use. Below are some basic edits of the raw video.

Feb 6th:
There was a couple inches of new snow overnight, with more coming down during the day.   Visibility was pretty bad at the top, so the hikes were closed.  We wondered around the mountain looking for places that the wind made it ski more than a couple inches.

Video was with the goggle mount.  It is still a little shaky even after software stabilization.

Feb 7th:
Sunny day.  The morning did have the top of the mountain covered in with some clouds.  But, lower down it was bright sun.   Highlight of the day was nailing the Estelle/Beaver rope drop.   I was 3rd person in behind the patroller opening it.   Camera setting had issue with bright sunny snow fields so the Estelle footage came out way over exposed.  Too bad, it was nice high speed powder turns.  Next run we went OB over High T.  This footage was overexposed also, but not so bad to leave out.  Those were pretty sweet back to back runs.   A fun drop through Sherwood Cliffs on the way back was icing on the cake.

Camera mounted to the helmet on Sunday.

Pretty fun weekend.

Thanks for posting these StormDay, I'm thinking about getting a POV cam, the footage and skiing look great.

Great skiing, thanks for sharing the videos. We were at Squaw the same time and conditions were just as good. Is Alpine Meadows right behind Squaw?

I saw a bunch of lift towers in the closed area behind KT... what's that all about?

Was a private ski area.  I forget the whole story.  The exposure to the sun makes this area unskiable after early March.
