Urgent help/advice needed regarding Whistler Creekside access from Taluswood area

I've booked my holiday in Whistler at a place called Taluswood which is in Creekside.

Maybe I should have guessed it but I was told that it is ski in/ski out which it is.

HOWEVER, I've now discovered that the only official ski in/out access is via the Dave Murray Downhill.

This is CLOSED to the public for the month I am there. Can you ski down the side of it? I'm guessing not.

So on the face of it, I have booked a place that is a pain in the backside to get to and from.

I've looked at Google Earth and there seem to be a series of rat runs above the chalet the may make the place accessible but I'm not sure. Off piste is fine for me so I just need to know if it's possible.

The chalet is on Nordic Drive, Whistler B.C. V0N 1B2.

Does anyone have any local knowledge that may assist me with this?

I feel a bit of a pillock after going to all the trouble choosing the chalet in the first place. We have two kids and need access from the slopes in case of emergencies.

Can anyone help as I fear the wife is going to kill me when I tell her!!!

It sounds like you may not be ski in/out this time.  When I was up there three weeks ago the lower mountain coverage was pretty poor and the local I was with determined that the kind of access you are asking about was not possible.  There has not been much snow since then, and the Creekside elevation is pretty low. Check the transit system, you may need to go all the way to the Creekside base either by skiing Peak to Creek (it was really sketchy three weeks ago) or downloading the Creekside gondola and then hop a bus, if there is one.  It's a pretty big hike from the base to where you're staying.

Good luck.

Send a PM to Northyvr.  She has a Taluswood rental listed in the Classifieds.  She can probably give you the skinny.
